Boston, Massachusetts, is a fabulous city best known for The Boston Marathon, Fenway Park, baked beans, and the bar from Cheers, but there are many additional reasons to love this city. Time and time again, Boston and its surrounding suburbs rank at the top of “best of” lists for a myriad of reasons. This outstanding city has been the first to do so many remarkable things. In 1634, the city constructed the first public park, and the following year it opened the first public school. In 1897, it introduced the nation’s first subway system, and in the years following, it introduced the first inoculation, first telephone, and first industrial arts school. With so many notable firsts it isn’t surprising in 2017, Boston was ranked number five in the world for innovation.
Adding to the appeal of this spectacular city, it is rich with recreation opportunities that include running, walking, biking, and other outdoor activities. Per capita, it has a high number of playgrounds, public parks, and farmers’ markets. Residents also enjoy easy access to some of the nation’s best teaching hospitals. Beautiful points of interest include the fifteen-acre Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway, Boston Common, the Back Bay Fens, and Esplanade on the Charles River. And entertainment-related destinations include Huntington Theatre Company, Berklee School of Music, The Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.
These are only a few of the myriad of reasons why Boston real estate is so desirable. Real estate in Boston is very diverse, often depending on in which part of the city it is located. Listing prices also vary quite a bit depending on where the Boston property is located. East Boston has some reasonably priced full-service buildings with exciting shared amenities, while similar units in South Boston can have price tags exceeding one million dollars. Generally speaking, the further away from downtown, the more affordable the Boston home, which is why the popularity of Roslindale, Dorchester, and Chelsea are growing. If you want to live near public transportation the Roslindale and Hyde Park neighborhoods are excellent places to buy Boston condos. In West Roxbury, you get even more bang for your buck, where you can find a two-bedroom with more than one thousand square feet of living space for less than a one-bedroom in Jamaica Plain.
